Depth Notes

Reflections on psychiatry, identity, cultural resilience,

and the interior lives of high-achieving women.

It begins with a guide

DepthWorks Psychiatry integrates narrative reflection, visual awareness, and nervous-system-informed care to help high-achieving women understand not only their symptoms, but the identity structures beneath them.

These guides offer a glimpse into that approach.
Not therapy. Not diagnosis.
But a structured opportunity to see yourself with greater clarity.

The Identity Reflection Guide explores the survival roles beneath anxiety, perfectionism, and hyper-responsibility.

The Visual–Narrative Reset uses photography and story to illuminate how you function under pressure, and who you may be ready to become.

Begin with either.

Each is a thoughtful entry point into the DepthWorks lens.

Personality

✨ What If You’re Not “Too Much”—Just Misunderstood?

Reframing Personality Through Compassion, Curiosity & Creativity

We all have ways we protect ourselves.

Some of us hold on tightly, afraid to be left.
Some of us push people away before they can get too close.
Some of us smile through pain, or make ourselves invisible just to feel safe.

In clinical terms, these might be called personality disorders.
But what if, before we reached for a diagnosis, we paused and asked:
“What happened that made you need to protect yourself this way?”

💭 What if your personality isn’t the problem?
The words personality disorder can feel heavy. They rarely hold the full story.

When I study these patterns—whether it’s borderline, avoidant, obsessive-compulsive, or narcissistic traits—I don’t just see symptoms.
I see survival.
I see someone who learned how to stay safe, even when it hurt.
I see strength in the rawest form.

📸 Mindful Exposure™ and the Power of Seeing Yourself Differently

As a PMHNP student and the creator of Mindful Exposure™, I hold space for people who are trying to understand themselves without shame.

This framework helps people gently explore their emotions, nervous system responses, and core beliefs—through guided photography and reflection.

You don’t need to explain everything.
You don’t need the right words.
Just a willingness to look through a softer lens.

Try this:

📷 Take a photo that captures what it feels like to be misunderstood.
Then…
📷 Take another photo that reflects who you’re becoming when you feel seen and safe.

This is how we begin to reframe our stories—not through judgment, but through presence and image.

🌀 What’s Called “Too Much” Is Often “Too Long Unseen”

Words like clingy, distant, dramatic, cold, or controlling—
They’re often just labels for nervous systems that never felt safe.

This isn’t about ignoring clinical insight.
It’s about humanizing it.

When we start to see our emotional patterns as adaptations rather than flaws, we open the door to healing.

🌿 A Different Way to Understand Ourselves

Mindful Exposure™ invites us to slow down, feel without pressure, and reconnect with parts of ourselves we’ve pushed away.

Through photography, we’re not just capturing moments.
We’re reshaping how we relate to our own story.

💌 Want to Try It?

Here’s a simple prompt to begin:
📷 Take two photos—

  • One that represents how you’ve felt misunderstood

  • One that reflects who you’re learning to become

Then pause. Reflect on the space between the two.
That space is where healing begins.

You are not too much.
You are not broken.
You are becoming.

And your lens can help you see it.

ABOUT ME

I’m Patria Alexander, PMHNP-BC, an integrative psychiatric nurse practitioner - providing psychiatric care with depth.

My work honors both science and story. I believe psychiatric care should respect your culture, your legacy, and the responsibilities you carry, not reduce you to a diagnosis.

In our work together, we move beyond symptom management to restore clarity, steadiness, and self-trust, through precise medication management, narrative reflection, and culturally grounded practice.

This is care designed for women who are used to being strong, and are ready to be supported.
